5 Reasons to Detox with a Juice Fast

Do you want to cleanse or detoxify your body? If so, you will likely turn to the internet. Aside from the Master Cleanse, water fasting is a popular detox diet approach. However, many find it difficult, if not impossible. If you are looking for similar results, but with a much easier approach, you should try a juice fast.

So, what makes a juice fast a great way to detoxify your body?

1 – Your Options

First and foremost, it is important to know that you cannot consume any type of juice. The purpose of a detox is to cleanse your body and expel toxins that have accumulated throughout the years. You cannot successfully do this if you continue to consume juices with unnatural additives. For that reason, only consume organic or all-natural juice. With that said, you still have many options.

All-natural juices are sold in many grocery stores. Look for a label that states the product is certified organic. This is proof that you are drinking a 100% all natural juice. For an easier approach, shop at a specialty organic food store, where all food and drinks are natural.

2 – You Can Make Your Own

As previously stated, all-natural, organic juice is available for sale in the United States. You can also make your own. All that you need is a collection of fruits and vegetables and a juicer. Although a juicer will cost money, on average between $50 and $200, it will be well worth the investment. During a 5-day body detox, you can easily benefit from your purchase. Plus, it is a home appliance that can be used again or later resold.

3 – Taste

Ask anyone who has tried water fasting or the Master Cleanse and one of their number one complaints will be taste. With water fasting, there is no taste. You may find yourself craving some type of flavor. Yes, this craving will likely pass, but it may seem unbearable. If you enjoy good tasting foods and drinks, a juice fast is a better option for you. In fact, that is another benefit to buying a juicer, as you can experiment with flavors to create your own unique blend of all-natural fruit or vegetable juices.

4 – Nutrients

The Master Cleanse involves cayenne pepper and grade B maple syrup. These two items help to give you some nutrients, although small. On the other hand, you will receive no nutrients when on a water fast. That is why extended detoxification is advised against. With juice fasting, you do not have this problem. You will still receive nutrients that the body needs to stay health. For that reason, you will not only feel an improvement at the conclusion of your detox diet, but during it as well.

5 – Weight Loss

Unfortunately, many people make the mistake of believing that you cannot lose weight while on a juice diet. This is not true. When on a juice fast, you eliminate solid foods. That allow will reduce your calorie intake and help you shed the pounds. Yes, you may not lose as much weight on a juice fast as you would fasting on water, but you will notice a difference. Even still, a juice fast is recommended for improvement of overall health and wellbeing; it should not be used only as a weight loss plan.

Great Vegetarian Cooking Under Pressure

Do you want to be a great vegetarian cook but find that you are always under pressure because of time constraints? Being a vegetarian, you can't just whip up a pan of Hamburger Helper and call it a meal. But you can still do some great vegetarian cooking even while under pressure if you keep it simple and concentrate on what you're doing.

To begin with, you are eating vegetarian, so you don't have the luxury of scrambling up some hamburger or broiling a lamb chop or two. That's alright. Cooking under pressure is a great way to bring out the great talent you have to create a vegetarian meal that looks and tastes great.

One of the quickest vegetarian meals that you can whip up under pressure is a nice spaghetti Bolognese sauce. Take some diced tomatoes and add in oregano, basil, parsley, and a bit of red pepper for tang. Chop up an onion and simmer it all together for about 15 minutes. Boil up some spaghetti noodles, pour the sauce over the top and you have done some wonderful great vegetarian cooking under pressure, all without the stress!

Mexican food can be a great way to make a great vegetarian meal with a minimum of cooking and not being under pressure to get it all done since Mexican food tends to cook quickly anyway. Take some black beans and put them in a saucepan with a hot and spicy salsa. Cook over a medium heat and mash the beans slightly while they are cooking. Once you have a good consistency and the beans are hot, place them in a corn or flour tortilla, roll them up, and top with some chopped tomatoes, sour cream (if your diet allows it) and some chopped jalapenos. Then you have some great vegetarian black bean burritos with a minimum of cooking and no pressure because it cooks quick.

Finally, if you are under pressure to make a great vegetarian meal, why not consider not cooking at all? One of my favorite (and least expensive) meals is a nice chef's salad. Take a head of lettuce (wash it first, of course), add in some tomatoes, cucumbers, hard boiled eggs, artichoke hearts, some garbanzo beans and a nice oil and vinegar dressing. Toss it all together and you have a great vegetarian meal with no cooking and not feeling like you are under pressure to be a gourmet chef!

Although drug and alcohol dependencies are common reasons for detoxification, very few individuals fit into this category. If you only enjoy a glass of wine or a beer from time to time, you are likely classified as a social drinker, not an addict.

Millions of Americans suffer from a lack of energy or fatigue. There are many reasons for this, one of which being deprivation of sleep. Another reason could be medical. For example, some thyroid conditions can leave you feeling fatigued and energy-less. Once these issues have been ruled out, it is time for a body cleanse or body detox.

Many of the foods and drinks we consume are ridden with unnatural chemicals and other additives. By many standards, they are safe, but it is the accumulation that needs to be considered. Even healthy bodies do not fully expel all toxins; therefore, a cleanse is advised. When your body starts to feel like new from the inside, you will notice a significant change in your energy levels.

3 – Skin Problems

The buildup of toxins in the human body not only impacts energy levels and our internal organs, but the skin as well. Some individuals with acne problems have tried various different forms of over-the-counter medications, only to be met with defeat. However, many of those same individuals noticed an improvement with a full body cleanse.

While on a full body detox, many fast or consume all-natural foods. If you are looking to improve the overall appearance of your skin, go a step farther. Switch to organic or natural skincare products, including lotions, creams, shampoos, and soaps.

4 – The Consumption of Unnatural Foods

When it comes to unnatural foods, there is some confusion. Many view unnatural as safe. Since there are millions of foods currently available for sale in department stores and grocery stores, these products are often viewed as safe. Yes, technically they are, but many are ridden with unnatural chemicals and additives. Some of these stay and buildup inside our bodies. That is why a body detox or cleanse is recommended.

An easy way to cleanse your body, without fasting, involves consuming all-natural, organic foods. Some recommend doing so for a week to a month. On that same note, after a detox, your body is clean and "pure," again. So, it is advised that you be careful with what you resume consuming, otherwise the buildup process will begin again.

5 – It Is Easy

Many are surprised to learn how easy and affordable it is to cleanse the body. Since it is easy to cleanse or detox your body, why not at least give it a try?

As previously stated, eating organic foods for an extended period of time can help to cleanse or detoxify your body. That is the easiest approach to take, but there are other options. Popular ways to detoxify the body include water fasting, juice fasting, and the Master Cleanse. Since you have many options to choose from, choose the option that is the easiest and most comfortable for you.

In short, there are many reasons why a body cleanse or detox is recommended. Whatever the reason for cleansing, you will be pleased with the results. Those results should include healthier skin, more energy, and a slight weight loss. So, what are you waiting for? Get started today!

10 Reasons to Eat Raw Foods

Prehistoric man learned thousands of years ago that it was a good idea to eat meat that was cooked, rather than raw. Since then, the human race has gone crazy, applying that same cooking idea to all foods. You can have too much of a good thing! Except for a salad, most people eat very little raw food. But in recent years, the focus on healthy eating and lessening the chances of contracting diseases like diabetes, heart disease and strokes has thrown the focus on raw foods.

What we're talking about here is eating fruit, vegetables and nuts that taste good just as Nature intended them: in their raw state. That is quite a change for most people, so in order to make that change you need to know exactly why you should do it. You need to know why your raw food diet is good for you.

1. Foods have a higher nutritional value when they are raw. Cooking food destroys vitamins, protein and fat. It even breaks down the enzymes which are naturally in the foods and would help you digest them.

2. You will fuller more quickly in eating raw foods because they contain more water and more fiber and so fill you up more successfully. Your hunger will be satisfied so you can eat less on the raw food diet and that is one reason why people find the raw food diet helps them to lose weight.

3. Raw food is more flavorsome than cooked food is. That means that you have less of a need to add flavorings like salt and spice, all of which flavorings can irritate your stomach and other parts of the digestive system and be too stimulating for internal organs like the liver, which valiantly struggles to detoxify the body pf these seasonings which it sees as toxic.

4. The raw food diet is so low maintenance! People who hate spending hours in the kitchen preparing meals will love the simplicity of the raw food diet. You can even involve your children in preparing raw food; that way, they are more likely to eat it! That gives you a break and builds the child's self-esteem.

5. You won't burn your fingers, mouths, tongues or lips with raw food! Also, you won't burn your house down in a kitchen fire because you won't be cooking much!

6. There is less cleaning up after making a raw food meal. You can put any leftovers right on the compost heap and give back to nature, and you won't have any greasy dishes with baked on food to deal with.

7. A raw food diet is great for your overall health and has even been shown to have a positive effect on serious chronic diseases like cancer and heart disease. This is because with the raw food diet one doesn't have the problems caused by free radicals which are created in the cooking process. Fewer free radicals means less risk of cancer.

8. A raw food diet is rich in nutrients and so it gives you great natural protection against common illnesses like colds and flu and even less common illnesses such as measles. Raw food helps to keep your body fit and working well. You are also less likely to suffer from digestive disorders like gas, heartburn, constipation and indigestion.

9. The raw food diet is environmentally friendly. It encourages organic farming and we would use fewer energy resources because we wouldn't be cooking the food or transporting it as far as we do now. Emissions of carbon dioxide would be reduced and there would have to be new orchards planted to keep up with the demand for fresh fruit. This would release more oxygen into the air and we'd help to minimize the Greenhouse Effect.

10. The raw food diet will enable you to save money. You will not only save money on food bills but also on energy bills, and also stoves, pots, pans – and medical bills!

The raw food diet is a great way to save your body, save your money and save the planet.
