Remedy For Dry Facial Skin

Dry skin can be caused by any number of factors, but it all comes down to the glands in your skin not producing enough oil. It's largely the oil in your skin that makes it feel soft and moist, though there are always exceptions. Any remedy for dry facial skin works by adding water, oil, or some combination of those two. While we will be focusing on the face, most of what follows will apply to any other part of your body that is suffering from dry skin.

A good start is to look at your current skin care regimen. Any aspect of it could be a contributing cause to your dry skin problem. For example, if you use very hot water when washing your face, you could be stripping away the oils that keep it moist. Overwashing, or washing with harsh cleansers and soaps can disrupt the delicate chemical balance of your skin as well. Another problem area in your skin care regimen can be exfoliating. While it's okay to get rid of your dead skin cells, it's not something that should be done on a daily basis, and you should only use a mild exfoliants when you do exfoliate.

Staying hydrated is an important remedy for dry facial skin. You should make sure to drink plenty of water throughout the day to make sure your body is getting enough. If you find yourself getting thirsty, then it's a sign that you are not drinking enough water. You should also make sure your skin is staying hydrated from the outside, and the way to do this is to be in an environment with the right amount of humidity. A lack of humidity is why so many people have especially dry skin in the winter. This is easily fixed by getting a humidifier to put more moisture in the air.

Humidity is only one environmental factor that needs to be looked at when searching for a remedy for dry facial skin. The other main factors that play a role in how your skin looks are tobacco smoke, air pollution, and exposure to the sun. All of these things have the potential of aging your skin prematurely and making it dry. Quitting smoking (or not allowing it in your home), using an indoor air purifier, and wearing sunscreen when you go outside will help your skin to stay healthy.

Healthy skin is also an indicator of overall good health. You will do a lot to have healthy looking skin when you eat right, exercise, and get plenty of sleep at night. In fact, that may be all you need to do to get rid of dry skin.

The main thing to remember is that you do not have to live with the frustration of dry skin. Choose any remedy for dry facial skin that sounds good to you, and then see how it works. Once you see the positive results, you will be glad that you made the decision to fix the problem once and for all.

Hi, I just came across this article and I loved it – there’s some really good info in there! You’re quite right, too much exfoliation could cause not only dry skin, but it actually lowers your skin’s natural defenses from bacteria.

I exfoliate about two to five times a month, and I make my own scrub, instead of using all those chemical products. Using sea salt or epsom salt and oatmeal or cornmeal in it, since I’m confined to a sugar-restricted diet. Also I make just enough to use for once – never use old scrub sitting on the shelves for longer than a week.
