Dangerous Birthmarks- Baby Girls Are More At Risk

This article is about what to do about dangerous birthmarks. Birthmarks are also called hemangiomas and only thirty percent are visible at birth and usually get bigger as the baby grows. Little girls are five times more likely to be born with hemangiomas and White more than any other race. Eighty-three percent of all hemangiomas are on the head, face, and neck of the child at birth.

Now that we know the statistics of dangerous birthmarks let us discuss them further. Hemangiomas are also know as strawberry marks or nevuses. These are an abnormal build-up of blood vessels close to the surface of the skin of an unknown origin. Most are present at the time of birth but some are insidious and wait a few months before showing themselves.

Believe it or not some hemangiomas are present at birth but are unseen. That is because they are on an internal organ. This is the most dangerous type of hemangioma. Injury or rupture can caused severe internal bleeding and unless immediate medical intervention is obtained the life of the child is in serious jeopardy.

Other types of hemangiomas like the capillary hemangioma are red lesions on the skin that involve the capillaries in the area. Cavernous hemangiomas are huge, soft cavities beneath the skin filled with blood. Some other hemangiomas are called compound hemangiomas. These types have both the capillary and cavernous aspects to them.

Most hemangiomas have a typical and predictable life cycle. The first phase is the rapid growth phase, which can last up to 18 months, then there is a rest period. During the rapid growth phase the size of the lesion can increase exponentially. After the rest period the overgrown lesion can start to disappear. This phase is called the involution phase and can take any where from 3 months to 10 years.

Some mildly superficial lesions do tend to be the type to disappear completely without a trace but the large cavernous type can disappear on its own, too but can be disfiguring and distorting to the skin that surrounds them.

The very real problems that can arise if your child is born with one of these on his or her face is the social consequences. Your child will probably get teased and will come home crying on more than one occasion. Try to be as sympathetic as you can and try to reaffirm the fact that God put the birthmark there because they were special and he wanted to let everyone know that he picked them personally. Telling the bullies this may even get them to leave your child alone. Every one wants to be special, especially in God's eyes.

The most dangerous birthmarks are the ones that occur on the internal organs or if they interfere with the normal development of normal functions like vision. Say that the birthmark is one the face and eyelids, then the area could become so blood filled that the child would not be able to see normally. This would probably need to be surgically corrected to let the child see as she should.

Danger Of Heart Murmur-Do You Need To Worry

The only way to know if you are in danger of heart murmur is to see your doctor. The next time you go for a check-up ask your doctor to listen carefully and make sure you do not have a heart murmur. Not everyone does, but if you should have one then you need to be referred to a heart specialist as soon as possible.

Not that all heart murmurs are bad, some are called innocent for a reason. That reason is that they are benign and will not caused further problems in the future and even may resolve on their own.

A heart murmur is defined as, "any extra or unusual sound made by the heart as it beats." Your doctor may hear a slight whooshing sound as the blood leaks from one chamber of the heart through the valve to the next chamber of the heart. The valves normally keep the blood from leaking or even backing up into the previous chamber of the heart. Blood is supposed to move only one way through the heart. If it doesn't then serious problems can arise.

The cardiologist can tell what is happening by listening to your heart and will make his diagnosis of your condition by when he hears the "whooshing" sound within the heart beat. In other words, your cardiologist can tell just by listening where the problem is with the valves of your heart. If he hears the danger of heart murmur in the first half of the heart beat then the problem is probably with you mitral or tricuspid valve. If the murmur is in the second half of the heart beat then the problem lies in the pulmonic or aortic valve.

Any valve problem is considered serious because it can lead to far more serious conditions like heart failure or heart attack. The heart murmur in itself is not the problem but it can tell the doctor that there is a problem. If you are diagnosed with an innocent murmur then you will probably need no treatment but, if you are diagnosed with an abnormal heart murmur then you best get treatment started right away to minimize the damage and decrease the risk of heart failure.

Some children are born with heart problems. These kinds of defects are called congenital heart defects and usually come in the form of septal defects. A septal defect is essentially a hole in the heart. The septum is the tissue in the heart that separates the four chambers and can happen between the atria or the ventricles. The sizes of the holes may differ and the bigger the hole the louder the noise that the heart murmur will make.

Treatment for danger of heart murmur may begin with medications and therapy but if the condition is severe then surgery may be the only way to fix the problem. Especially if there is a hole in the heart or a valve is severely damaged. The hole can be stitched closed but if the valve is too severely damaged then the fix is to replace the valve with an artificial one.

Constipation Home Remedies Take A Close Look At Your Diet

If you have constipation often the best place to start looking for constipation home remedies is to look at your diet. Constipation is no joke and it can mean a painful effort to try and open the bowels and even more of an ordeal to pass a stool.

What you should understand before you take a closer look at your diet is that there is no 'normal' where individuals are concerned. One person may easily open their bowels once a day and another every third day, it doesn't mean the latter has a problem. It simply means that our bodies naturally find the frequency that is right for us. However, if you find that you are struggling and it is painful to pass a stool when you want to, then you are probably constipated.

If you are struggling with constipation then you should take quick steps to find out what is causing it and what you can do to stop it before it manifests into something more problematic. As stated, diet plays a huge role in our ability to have regular soft bowel movements and so it's crucial to always remember that what we put into our bodies has an effect on what does, or doesn't, come out of our bodies.

Aim for a diet that is rich in fiber. That means eating plenty of fruits and vegetables – a good indicator is always to have at least the recommended five portions a day. If you are suffering from chronic constipation, then you can even start making your own juices and drinking your fruits as one way towards a more refreshing constipation home remedies. Some really useful fruits to eat to relieve constipation are dates, figs and mangoes for vegetables try potatoes, corn and leafy green vegetables.

What should also be added to the diet are wholegrain foods. These include breads, rice and cereals. Eating wholegrain foods means that you add roughage to your diet which is what the body needs to keep the bowels healthy. Healthy bowels means relief from constipation.

Nuts in general are another great addition when you're looking for constipation home remedies. Nuts will also add the much needed fiber and roughage to the diet but eating one particular nut, walnut, is a great way to help relieve constipation. If you can get them fresh, then that's the way to eat them.

As far as all the constipation home remedies go, what you should of course make sure of, is that you're drinking plenty of water, roughly around 8 glasses per day. Water will keep you well hydrated, flush your system and make your stools softer and easier to pass.

Children With Heart Murmur Can Be Common

Children with heart murmur is very common. Generally, if your child is born with no birth defects like Down's Syndrome or other genetic abnormalities or even exposure to drugs and alcohol during pregnancy then the heart murmur is nothing to worry about and will cause no other health problems. It is important not to panic when your child's pediatrician tells you they have a heart murmur.

First, ask which type of heart murmur your child has. The best thing you can do for yourself and your child is to be as informed as is humanly possible. No matter what type of heart murmur your child has do your research and find out everything you can about it. Then you can be a great help in any and all treatment options your doctor prescribes. A heart murmur does not a death sentence make.

If your children with heart murmur is a serious condition, your doctor will probably refer your child to a cardiac specialist. This cardiac specialist will evaluate your child's condition further to determine the extent of heart damage and what course of treatment is best to follow.

There are two different types of heart murmurs, innocent and abnormal. A heart murmur that is typed as innocent are usually not a health risk and your child will probably grow out of it in time.

The other type of heart murmur is called abnormal because it is caused by a defect or other heart problem such as a hole in the heart at birth. If the defect is such that too much blood is backing up in the heart you may notice some symptoms in your child like the inability to bottle feed continuously without stopping to breathe, a bluish tint to the lips, and the inability to grow and thrive.

The cardiac specialist will classify your child's heart murmur in a number of ways to determine how bad it is. First, the heart murmur is graded from 1 to 6 for loudness or intensity. Grade 1 heart murmurs are very difficult to hear while grade 6 heart murmurs are loud and very easy to hear. While listening the cardiac specialist will classify your child's heart murmur as soft, blowing, or harsh with a high-frequency. Next, the location on the chest where the murmur can best be heard will be assessed along with where the heart murmur occurs in the cycle of heart beats.

If it is determined that your child has an abnormal heart murmur that is caused by a defect in a valve or your child was born with a small hole in their heart then surgery is probably recommended and the problem will be repaired. Medications may be prescribed as well to control symptoms and alleviate some of your children with heart murmur discomfort.

A different kind of cream

It is only natural for people to find ways to maintain and protect their physical beauty. Since not everyone can stay as flawless as babies due to several external factors, more and more products are being uniquely developed depending on the person's skin type and needs.

One of the most popular skin care products available in the market today is the skin care cream. Since creams are known for being easily absorbed by the skin, countless of skin care creams–mostly anti-aging–are being sold.

According to dermatologists, there are actually over 300 skin care creams and products created to solve different skin problems. Based on long-term reduction of wrinkles, instant reducing of fine lines, antioxidant protective properties that delay skin cell aging, collagen and skin renewal properties and skin smoothing properties, the most common skin care creams include Rejuvinol, Alpha Derma, Idebenol, Strixderm, Avotone, Strivectin-SD, Rejuvenex, and Hydroderm.

Although these skin care creams are known to contain high-grade chemicals and ingredients, which are uniquely formulated to reduce fine lines and wrinkles, most dermatologists still agree that proper skin care can help people maintain younger looking skin.

Here are some helpful tips in achieving that healthy skin:

1. The most basic thing you should learn in caring for your skin is to develop a good skin care regimen. Make sure that you clean your skin every day by deep cleansing it using safe cleansing products.

2. If you are using beauty products such as skin care creams, make sure that you are consistent in using or applying the product/s properly by following the instructions included.

3. Always keep your skin well hydrated by having enough liquid supply in your body by drinking lots of water or juices. Water or liquid intake should be 8 glasses or more daily.

4. If you're a woman, make facial skin care as your top priority by removing your make-up before sleeping. This would prevent skin pore clogging and congestion. Also, keep your makeup clean by replacing sponges and brushes regularly.

5. Always keep your skin moisturized day and night to keep it from harmful elements, which damage it. Use skin care products that have high vitamin E, shea butter, squalene, and aloe vera contents.

6. Protect your skin everyday by always using sunscreen with a SPF of at least 15. This can prevent premature skin aging, wrinkles, and fine lines. Along with sunscreen, protect your skin by using sunglasses, full-brimmed hats, long sleeved blouses, and slacks.

7. If you're smoking, quit. Giving up nicotine intake can help your skin regain its lost nutrients.

8. Reduce excessive intake of caffeinated and alcoholic drinks because they only causes dehydration which only lead to cell death.

Can You Relieve Sciatic Nerve Pain

Have you had to deal with that sharp and shooting pain that comes from a pinched sciatic nerve? Then, you need to find ways to relieve sciatic nerve pain and something that will work quickly. Once that pain hits, you are unable to do much of anything and are, for a moment, disabled. You might be caught there feeling frozen and unable to move. There are things that you can do to help stop that pain from being so severe.

The sciatic nerve starts at the base of your skull and runs all the way down your spine and down to your feet. It is the longest nerve in the body. There are times when that nerve has pressure put on it or somehow gets irritated that causes it to throb with pain or bring about a tingling sensation. Sometimes that pressure can be quite hard on the sciatic nerve and can bring that pain that overwhelms you. There are several things that can cause it and some of them can be very serious. If the pain has been going on for very long, it would be a good idea to have a doctor check it out.

Take some kind of anti-inflammatory medicine daily to help reduce the inflammation. If this is taken with regularity it can sometimes be enough to control the pain and keep it from coming back strong. Your doctor may have to prescribe something kind of strong if the pain persists.

If the pain is severe and lasts longer than a day then try lying on your back on the floor or a firm mattress, placing a small pillow under your knees. This will take a lot of the pressure off the sciatic nerve and may give the inflamed area a chance to heal. For years this has been the most prescribed treatment for sciatica, but it hasn't been proven to be any more effective at shortening the duration of the pain than anything else. It just helps in dealing with the pain a little.

Use heat or cold therapy. It depends on the person as to which will work better. Try one and see if it works. If it doesn't work then try the other.

When you go to sit in a chair, don't choose one that is very soft. Look for firm couches and chairs that encourage proper posture.

Try stretching because in some cases doing some stretches might bring about the relief of pressure off the sciatic nerve.

Visiting your chiropractor might also help as an adjustment might put whatever is pressing on the sciatic nerve back in place.

The main thing that you need to do, however, is find out what the underlying cause is. Visit your doctor and have him find out. If you can find that out then you are going to be able to treat the real problem instead of having to just try to manage the pain. It might take surgery in some cases. Until the problem goes away or is solved, you might just have to wait it out.

There is no easy answer to dealing with sciatic nerve pain. Hopefully there will be something that you can do to help lessen it and control the amount of pain that you go through until the issue can be resolved.

Binge Eating Treatment-Its Best To Seek Professional Support

For individuals who consume large quantities of food at every sitting, even when they are not hungry, this is known as bingeing. Not only is the condition serious, but the complications that can arise from it are even more of a serious nature. That's why it is important for these individuals to seek binge eating treatment options.

Someone who is afflicted with this condition will uncontrollably eat massive quantities of food each and every time they sit down for a meal. They are never hungry enough to justify the enormous amount of foods that are consumed, but they are completely unable to control their appetite. When they eat, it is as if their body has been placed on "auto-pilot" without an ability to disable the action.

Since it is categorized as a compulsive disorder, it is unfair to assume that the individual has any control over their actions, nor that they possess the ability to change it. Once they are set into motion, they are powerless against the need to continue eating, even long after the body has reacted with a feeling of being full. As a result, these people are often overweight and even obese.

That's why it is imperative that individuals with this condition seek professional help. They must rely on outside intervention if the overpowering control is to be interrupted and treatment to be successful. There are two main ways for this to be achieved: medication and psychotherapy.

But researchers continue to disagree over which area of the problem should be addressed first: being overweight or learning to deal with the overeating compulsion. On one hand, treating the factors that allow the condition to consume its host means getting to the root of the problem so that it breaks the hold that food has over them. This means addressing fears, anxiety, depression, anger, resentment and any number of other feelings that allows the brain to shift from making rational decisions to being completely out of control.

There are those that feel that the weight issue itself should be taken care of first since this will inevitably lead to other complications. They feel that allowing the individual to continue consuming huge amounts of food puts them into deeper states of depression, which, in turn, helps the condition to repeat itself.

Regardless of which direction of binge eating treatment is taken, there has been phenomenal success achieved with certain medications. Psychotherapy has also brought very favorable results and in some instances it has been necessary to combine both in order to help the individual.

Binge Eating Success-It Is Possible With Support

For those who have a tendency to binge, this is a clear indication that something may be terribly wrong. This is a condition that can spiral out of control until the individual experiences a host of both physical and emotional complications. In order to be a binge eating success story, you have to be willing to accept that there is a real problem and that you want help for it.

As with other conditions, denial is a problem with bingers. They may feel as if things are not quite right, but they retreat into their own world where food takes over and does the reasoning for them. That's why it is imperative that friends and family notice subtle changes in a person's demeanor and appetite, as well as any physical changes that seem to be occurring.

It is possible to get treatment for this condition as long as the person is confronted in the right manner. They are going to feel lonely, depressed and an overall sense of being an outcast. They will also often put on weight even though their eating patterns may not seem to have changed. That is because they are hiding food and eating in private. Since these foods are often the wrong types of foods high in fat, calories and sugar they cause significantly more damage.

Once a problem has been spotted it is imperative that the individual be persuaded to talk to a professional. There are a number of ways that treatment can be rendered but since different individuals respond differently to various methods it might be necessary to try several different options to determine which one will work best for their particular case.

The most common treatments are medications and psychotherapy. Sometimes, it is necessary for the two to be combined- depending on the severity of the condition. Both have proven results in treating the condition.

Something else that goes with these treatments is that the individual not be left alone with food. This condition is also known as compulsive eating for a reason. For sufferers, once they begin eating they are not able to determine when to stop. That's why all meals should be eaten around others so that the person can be monitored. Having accountability is the key to stopping the condition from escalating even further.

It will also be necessary for the individual to have routine searches of all of their private locations such as their room, locker, car, etc. Anywhere that food can be stashed is a potential opportunity for them to backslide. In order to become a binge eating success story, it is necessary to implement all of these practices.
