Tips On Taking Care Of The Face

What makes a beautiful face?

Besides the almond eyes or doe eyes that most women salivate for; the luscious lips or the patrician nose, one should have flawless skin.

This however is easier said than done. Although there are people who are gifted with the perfect skin, there are some, the majority in fact, who have to struggle everyday just to take care of their skin.

How to take care of the skin
Facial skin care is not as complicated as some think. With the right attitude and discipline, one can actually create a facial skin care routine that will help bring about that healthy glow. Below are just some tips that can help you start.

1. Get a good night sleep

They did not call it beauty sleep for nothing. Having the right amount of sleep can actually help the skin regenerate. This is also the time when the skin can breathe in from going all day with make-up.

2. balanced diet

Eating lots of fruits and vegetables can help the skin stay supple and soft. In fact, foods that are rich in Vitamin C and E are good for the skin as it serves as excellent anti-oxidants.

3. Moisturize

The skin on the face needs to be kept moisturize all the time as this is the part of the skin that is often exposed to the sun and the harsh environment. Moisturizing the skin will help prevent the appearance of wrinkles and lines that may let you appear older than you really are.

4. Cleansing routine

It is important that one follow a cleansing routine every day. Remember that it is a cardinal rule to always remove the make-up before going to sleep. Turning in the night with make-up on will only result in clogged pores and eventually, acne. Although there are products that go great for certain types of skin, experts recommend the use of mild soap especially to those who have sensitive skins.

5. Sunscreen

The sun's harmful ways can bring much damage to the skin. In fact, the sun is the number one culprit when it comes to wrinkles and dark spots. The sun can destroy the skin's natural protection. That it why it is important that you put sunscreen every day, even when you are not planning to go to the beach or to go out. Experts recommend the use of sunscreens that have SPH 15 or higher for all day protection.

The Cheap And Simple Way To Achieve Straight Hair

You can have straight hair by going to the salon and having lots of awful chemicals put through your hair, but do you really want harmful chemicals in your hair? There are more natural methods that you can use to achieve straight hair. Not only are there more natural methods that you can use but they are also much less expensive than salon treatments.

You will need a good quality flat iron. These come in different price ranges but don't go for the cheapest. Buy an iron from your beauty supply store or hairstylist because a better quality iron will give you better heating surfaces and better temperature controls. Although you will need to pay a bit for the iron, you will then own it and be able to have straight hair whenever you want so it does work out cheaper long term than going to the salon to get your hair straightened.

Next you will need a thermal protective spray which will help to protect your hair from heat damage. If you use the heating iron on your hair regularly it can become quite damaged if you don't use a protective spray.

First, shampoo and condition your hair. Because straightening your hair can dry it out you will want a good quality conditioner and leave it on a little longer than normal.

Once you have towel dried your hair, use a leave in conditioner and comb it through.

Next, blow dry your hair until it is completely dry. When your hair is dry brush it to remove any tangles.

Now you want to separate your hair into small sections and pin up the sections that you aren't working on. Work on one section at a time, about 2" wide and 1/2" thick. Put the section into the flat iron starting at your scalp and move slowly down the length of your hair. Don't stop and start when you are moving the iron down your hair, do it in one smooth movement otherwise you might end up with lines in your hair that can then be difficult to get out.

Don't worry about steam rising from your hair, that is completely normal for the heat to cause steam when there is still a little moisture left in your hair. If you hear a sizzling noise however then the heat is up too high and you should turn the temperature down a little.

Continue straightening small sections of your hair until you have completed all of your hair. When you have finished, have a look over your hair to make sure you haven't missed any. Remember that if you hair gets wet it may curl up again or go frizzy so you will need to try and keep your hair dry throughout the day.

Spray your hair with some hairspray when you have finished straightening it and this will help to keep your style in place.

That's it – now you're curly hair is now straight and stunning! Once you have done this a couple of times you will get the hang of it and it won't take you long to straighten your hair in the mornings. You will save a lot of money long term by not needing continuous salon treatments and you will also save your hair by not using all those harmful chemicals.

The Latest In Skin Care Treatments

With people all worried about their appearances, the skin care treatment industry has become a worldwide moneymaker, earning billions of dollars each year from people across all demographics.

Microdermabrasion

This is one of the most popular surgical and laser treatment in the country. It improves the skin tone of the body and brings back its luster. Microdermabrasion also helps in getting rid of superficial scars from acne.

For some, a total of six peelings are needed to achieve the best results. Others can get away with less depending on the condition of the skin. Often the procedure is done every one to two weeks. It makes use of aluminum crystals that create a micro-dermabrasion effect that helps peel the skin.

Although the skin is the most common area treated by the procedure, it is also done on the neck, chest, arms, hands or any area that are damaged by the sun. It is also used for skins with irregular pigmentation such as sun spots and melasma; those with irregular and rough skin; and even those with some wrinkles and stretch marks.

Effects of the procedure is said to better than those seen in glycolic acid peels. Another advantage is the longer healing and recovery time compared to other procedures. There is also a shorter treatment time as well very minimal discomfort. It is also said to be very safe for all skin types as well as all races.

Although it is less expensive, it can be expensive on the long run as it requires multiple treatments. So, before having yourself treated, make sure that you have already determined the total cost.

Photorejuvenation

This is another skin treatment in the country. Through the use of laser or broadband light, mild acne scarring can be improved by causing a new layer of collagen to form on the skin. Often, this procedure will require five to six treatments that are performed every three to four weeks.

Scar Revision

This is a surgical procedure conducted to remove acne scars, especially the ice pick and box cars, which are pretty deep. An excision is made during the procedure through a punch. This hole is then closed with sutures that are often about seven days later.

Another technique used in this procedure is the subcision, which uses a sharp instrument to undercut the scar being treated.

Laser Treatments

Other forms of skin treatments are the Laser resurfacing (CO2 laser, Erbium Yag laser);
Pulsed dye laser and Laser skin resurfacing.

The Best Skin Care For Oily Skin

Oily skin can be really tricky to take care of because one wrong move can spell disaster for the skin. One must remember that among the basic skin types, oily skin is perhaps the most sensitive and easily triggered.

Although having oily skin will lessen the possibility of developing wrinkles and lines early in life, one will compensate by being prone to acne, pimples and all sorts of blemishes. This is because over-activity of the sebaceous glands make it more likely for the pores in the skin to get clogged. Clogging of pores with grime, dead skin cells and bacteria trapped inside, can result to swelling and red bumps.

Below are some of the tips that will help you take care of your oily skin.

1. Choose what you put in your face

Oily skin can be very sensitive to irritation. This makes choosing the products that will not irritate the skin all the more difficult. For despite having products that are made especially for oily skin, there are skin types that are very allergic to some ingredients.

It is also recommended that people with oily skin refrain from using cosmetics and skin care products that are oil-based or those that are oily. Using oily products will only add to the oil already on the skin. They should instead use water-based products that are easily removed.

2. Wash your face

Another solution to a problem is the frequent washing of the face. This is done to prevent the build-up of oil on the skin which in turn will prevent the occurrence of acne. Basic hygiene is the single best solution to acne problems in oily skin.

3. Remove Make-up

Another reason why pores are clogged is the interaction of chemicals and oil on the skin. To prevent this, avoid sleeping while there is still make-up on your skin. This is actually a no-no for all skin types but all the more important for people with oily skin.

4. Be consistent with your treatment

In taking care of oily skin, it is important that you are consistent with your treatment. Most people with oily skin will probably be asked to use cleansers and then toners. Astringents are also popular as it helps exfoliates the skin and remove dead skin cells on the surface. Moisturizers are sometimes forgone because the skin is oily and moisturized as it is.

Taking Care Of Acne-Prone Skin

Although acne has been largely associated with teeners and puberty, the condition is not only confined in this age level. In fact, there are cases when as teeners, people do not suffer from acne only to have acne appear when they are in their 20s.

Acne is characterized by big break outs and pimples in large quantities. It can develop in different areas of the body although frequently found on the face and at the back. Acne often starts from the overactivity of the pilo-sebaceous glands, oil-producing glands. When combined with bacteria, dead skin cells and hormones, these oils are trapped in pores and induces swelling.

Often, lumps will develop into white heads or blackheads or even purely red lumps that are tender. Acne can also lead to scarring when not treated early. Some acne extend so deep within the skin and form nodules and cysts that even when heals, will leave scars that may not disappear.

Although nothing has been proven yet, acne has been known to be exacerbated by emotional stress, fatigue, humidity and even cosmetics. This is the reason why the use of chemicals on the face is strictly forbidden when there is acne as the products only irritate the skin.
There are actually medicines that can be applied to treat acne but before putting them on your face, you need to first consult a doctor to find out the regimen that will fit your condition and your skin type.

Here are some tips on how to take care of acne prone skin.

1. Let it be treated by professionals

The earlier you have it medically treated, the better will be the prognosis. There are medications that can help control the processes that lead to the acne problem such as the over-activity of the sebaceous glands, hormonal imbalances and even stress.

2. Do not take it in your own hands

Do not squeeze your pimples. This will only spread the infection and cause the affected area to swell. Squeezing your pimples may also result in permanent scarring. So be very careful in tweaking those red bumps on your face.

3. Avoid oily cosmetics

Remember that acne-prone skin is oily enough as it is. If you use oily cosmetics, it will only add up to the oil build up. If you have to wear make-up, look for the ones that are water-based. This will be less harsh on the skin. Also, remember to always remove your make-up at night. This is very crucial as leaving make-up on your skin while asleep can further irritate the skin.

Stretchmarks At Times Are Alot To Deal With

Stretchmarks at times, can seem like they are a lot to deal with but if you are patient and take the time needed to work on them you should have no trouble making them less of a problem for yourself.

During the summer months when you find you want to wear shorts and tank tops and the stretchmarks at your thighs and arms may show a little more you should maybe have had a little foresight during the winter months and begun your daily treatments with some sort of deep conditioner on the areas where the stretch marks are. Pamper yourself a little and use it all over to have nice soft , supple skin every where.

Deep conditioners and other lotions and oils, like cocoa butter and vitamin E oil are the things you need to buy to get the results you want. These will help the skin heal and let it get replenished with all the vitamins and minerals it need to be healthy.

Start eating a well-balanced diet of essential vitamins and minerals like vitamin A and E these are some of the building blocks for healthy skin. Vitamin C is another good one, so eat several servings of citrus fruits each day or find a good supplement to take that has added zinc. Zinc is essential for healing skin as well.

WE have all heard this before, drink your fill of water everyday. If you truly drink enough water you should never be thirsty. If you do feel thirsty then this already means you have some level of dehydration going on and should drink some water. The new rule for getting enough water is to calculate half of your body weight in ounces of water adn drink that amount. So, if you weigh 180 pounds you would need to drink 90 ounces of water everyday.

Here is a good schedule for getting it all in. When you wake up in the morning drink an 8 ounce glass right off the bat. Then, when you decide to fix breakfast, have a sixteen ounce glass with breakfast. Now they say that you are supposed to eat five small meals throughout your day, right? OK, with your mid-morning snack, drink another sixteen ounces, so just follow this plan for the other three meals of your day and if you need to have some sort of healthy snack before bed then drink another 8 ounce glass to end your day. There, done. 96 ounces of water in the day.

If the water gets to be too much then drink some unsweetened tea to change things up a bit. I make sun tea that is very good and has some flavoring of purple acai and pomegranate, two of what they call superfruits. It tastes awesome in the green tea and I used to be someone who had to have sweet tea. Sugar in everything. When I tried this tea it was strong enough and the flavor was infused enough throughout the tea it did not need any sugar and I found it to be very refreshing. Who knew?

My point is this, keep your skin moisturized and the rest of you hydrated and you will find the stretch marks at your trouble spots to respond to your treatment very well.

Stretch Mark Surgery

If you have stretch marks and all the creams and lotions have had very little effect on them, you may want to speak with your doctor about stretch mark surgery. You will have to do a little bit of homework before you even find a surgeon you can trust.

If you know someone who has had some good plastic surgery done and they were satisfied with the results ask them for a referral. If you do not know someone then make sure whomever you choose is a board certified plastic surgeon and then ask for references or to look at before and after pictures of work they have done in the past.

Once you find a good surgeon then call and make and appointment to talk about what you want done. They will listen and tell you about the options available. Some of the things they may discuss with you are tummy tuck, dermabrasion treatments and laser surgery.

A tummy tuck might be an option if there is also saggy skin as well as stretch marks on your abdomen. The surgeon will stretch the skin and cut off the excess before suturing the incision closed. This is a major surgery so be sure to discuss the risks involved. You will probably go home with a drain or two in place to keep fluid from building up in the incision. This aids in healing.

The thing about a tummy tuck and stretch marks is that the tummy tuck may actually create stretch marks unless you treat the skin as you would during pregnancy to help it stay soft and supple to minimize the development of any new stretch marks.

The second option of stretch mark surgery your doctor will discuss with you is dermabrasion treatments. This can be a very painful form of treatment where the skin is frozen and the layers of skin are scraped away with an abrasive tool leaving the skin underneath raw and sore.

Laser surgery is the next option you could discuss with your doctor. During the laser treatment the laser is positioned over an area of stretch marks and then pulsed several times until the area of the stretch marks begins to shrink. You may need several treatments in order to reduce the stretch marks.

There is minimal pain or discomfort involved with this procedure so no anesthesia is used. The most you will feel is a stinging sensation that leaves the area feeling like it is sunburned.

After any of these procedures there is a time of healing that needs to take place from just a few days to a few weeks. It varies with every procedure with the recovery time for the laser treatment being the least.

Make sure you know the cost as well as the risk of stretch marks surgery before you make any decisions. Most likely anything you have done will not be covered by your insurance because these procedures are considered cosmetic in nature, so you will need to make payment arrangements or have the money saved up to pay in full for the procedure you choose.

Stretch Mark Laser Treatment

Your skin is assaulted every day by thousands of toxins and other threats like trauma, injury and pollution in the air. Remember that your skin is very porous and absorbs these things like a sponge. If you have gained weight then lost it or have just recently had a baby you also see what those things have done to your body in the form of stretch marks and saggy skin. Well, do not fear you are not alone and if diet and exercise cannot fix them all then there is stretch mark laser treatment.

Stretch marks are caused by small tears that occur during the stretching of the skin in the dermis, or the layer of skin under the epidermis. Stretching of the skin can also be caused by weight training and bulking up too fast but these are not the type of stretch marks we are going to talk about for stretch mark laser treatment.

These type of stretch marks are the ones you get from pregnancy. After pregnancy you also have some saggy skin that can be treated with the use of lasers, as well.

Hoe the lasers work is, the lasers are directed to specific portions of the skin and where ever the laser touches the skin the production of collagen is stimulated, therefore, increasing the production of the collagen making the skin a lot more elastic. It also cause the connective tissue in the skin to divide which reduces the appearance of the stretch marks. It doesn't get rid of them but they seem lighter and less noticeable.

Laser therapy must be done properly to lessen the chance of scarring and will only cause minimal discomfort during the procedure. Most people feel a stinging sensation or a tingle on the surface of the skin. No anesthetic is needed and this is an outpatient procedure usually done right in the doctor's office. If the stretch marks are bad enough you may need more than one treatment. Talk things over with your doctor beforehand so you know what to expect.

It was originally thought that laser treatment would only be effective on reducing the appearance of new, red stretch marks but there are now different colored lasers that work on different color skin maladies. Maladies like red and brown birthmarks, for example. So, laser therapy may just help with the appearance of older lighter stretch marks.

Seventy percent of those treated for stretch marks see some improvement, although, the majority of the improvement seen can come as late as six months, or so, after the treatment. So, patience is key.

Understand that if you are considering stretch mark laser treatment your insurance company will consider this a cosmetic procedure and they will not cover it for you. You are on your own when it comes to paying for this procedure. You can save up and prepare for it or maybe the doctor will help you out by letting you make payments to pay off what you will owe.

Stretch Mark Home Remedy

If you have just had a baby or have lost a lot of weight then you have no doubt seen that you have acquired some stretch marks. Now you are looking for a stretch mark home remedy.
Someone should have told you that you could minimize the appearance of stretch marks during the time you were pregnant and maybe they did but I think that stretch marks are pretty much inevitable in any case.

So a good stretch mark home remedy starts with you and having the patience to see results before you start running to the plastic surgeon for help. That step may come in time but let's try this first.

Cocoa butter is wonderful. It penetrates the skin all the way down to the dermis, moisturizing as it goes to treat even the deepest stretch marks. Apply a good amount of cocoa butter to your stretch marks at least three times a day. Remember that you may not start to see results from this treatment for several weeks to a month, so be patient.

Lanolin is another good one to use. It basically works the same way and if you can find a product that contains both cocoa butter and lanolin you will probably see results faster. Do not quote me because everyone is different and you just need to try it to find out for yourself.

Mostly, this is how you will get rid of the stretch marks, by rubbing them down with creams and emollients. If you are diligent then you should have some success in at least reducing how bad they look. If you do not see any improvement then you may want to go to see a plastic surgeon and get a consult to see what can be done. But I think with some work on your part you should see some improvement in a few weeks to a month from now.

Obviously if you are rubbing yourself down with these creams then you are also giving yourself a good massage, too. Massaging an area will increase blood flow to that area and make it feel better. Deep massage also helps to break up scar tissue and that is what stretch marks are or at least they can cause scar tissue to build up making the stretch mark area look even worse.

Ah, yes, one more suggestion, go to the store and buy some vitamin E capsules or see of you can find some vitamin E oil somewhere and rub it into your skin. Vitamin E is important for skin health and will greatly improve your skin's elasticity. If all you can find is capsules you may need to use more than one to cover the area with the stretch marks. Puncture the capsule and squeeze out the oil and rub into your skin. get as good coverage as you can.

All this plus eating a well balanced diet with lots of protein and vitamins and minerals to help your skin stay healthy is a very important and will go a long way to being a major factor in your stretch mark home remedy.
