Pedicures And Manicures-Make It A Girls Day Out

Pedicures and manicures are treatments you can get at any salon or spa by their professionally trained staff. The term pedicure comes from the Latin "pedi" meaning foot and "cure" meaning care and the term manicure also from the Latin "mani" meaning hand and "cure" meaning care.

Pedicures and manicures are very similar in that they are done to make the hands and feet look and feel their best. It is just that one is for the feet and the other is for the hands. They help the hands and feet remain free of nail fungus and other nail maladies when done on a regular basis.

Let's concentrate on pedicures first. A pedicure begins with your feet being soaked in a warm, salt water bath to loosen up the dead skin cells to make the skin of the feet easier to work with. The cuticles are trimmed around the toe nails, the nails are trimmed to an acceptable length and the callouses are filed off of the heels.

The salon professional will also give you a really good foot, ankle, and lower leg massage to increase the blood flow to those areas. Finally the toes are dried, buffed and painted whatever your chosen color is. They usually have a large selection to choose from so do not be shy. Let them paint your nails. You will feel marvelous.

Foot health is very important. Your feet have to work very hard just to carry you around all day and they deserve the very best treatment. You will have less ingrown toe nails, less corns and bunions because of the regular care you give your feet. You feet will thank you, trust me.

Manicures are also another great way to pamper yourself. whether you are male or female, it does not matter. Some men like to have their hands look good, especially if they are in business. They want to make a good impression so they get their nails done. The men just forgo the nail polish.

A manicure usually starts out with the traditional soaking of the hands. Then the cuticles are pushed back and trimmed off, and the nails are trimmed if necessary. The nest part is the best part if you ask me and that is the hand and forearm massage you get. Oh my, you will feel like you have died and gone to heaven. Getting a hand massage is one of the most relaxing things that has ever happened to me and I know you will feel exactly the same when you have one done.

Getting a manicure can be a part of the outfit they have on. If the shade of nail polish they pick matches then they are considered to be all put together. Getting an manicure is a great way to relax and reduce some stress in your life and the hand massage can moisturize and exfoliate the skin of your hands and forearms. You hands will be so soft it will absolutely amaze you. Make it a girl's day out and take a couple of friends to go get pedicures and manicures.

Ocular Rosacea

Among the many diseases in our midst, Rosacea is characterized by its classic symptoms that are unmistakable in their being unique. Patchy flushing, redness, and inflammation particularly on the cheeks, nose, forehead, and around the mouth are among its distinct identifying marks.

Rosacea usually comes out in people who are between 30 to 50 years old, and it usually attacks mostly women. As people get older, acid accumulates with the body organs, bones, in the face, and in the brain. Our head, including our face, receives the larger supply of blood.

The eyes

Around 85% of rosacea patients will experience symptoms related to their eyes. This is called ocular rosacea, and frequently precedes the other appearances on the skin.

These ocular symptoms do not threaten the eyesight, with the treatment of 1/3 steroid and 2/3 antibiotics. The eye symptoms can go completely unnoticed. Oftentimes, it is the doctor (or ophthalmologist) who first notices the eye symptoms.

Advanced

Rosacea may or may not affect the eyes. Not everyone with rosacea has eye issues. A particular complication of advanced rosacea (known as ocular rosacea) affects the eyes, however.

About half of all people with rosacea report feeling burning, dryness, and grittiness of the eyes (conjunctivitis). These individuals may also experience redness of the eyelids and light sensitivity.

Untreated eye rosacea may cause permanent damage, including impaired vision.

Symptoms

The symptoms include a persistent burning sensation and the feeling of grittiness in the eyes. The eyelids are inflamed and swollen. The eyes sometimes become bloodshot and eye lashes fall out.

The ocular signs are extremely variable, including blepharitis, conjunctivitis, iritis, and even keratitis. These ocular complications are independent of the severity of the facial rosacea symptoms. Extreme keratitis can lead to corneal opacity and blindness.

The most frequent symptoms include chronically inflamed margins of the eyelids with scales and crusts. Photophobia (sensitivity to light) and pain are sometimes present.

The nose

In the face, it is the nose that sometimes gets disfigured by rosacea. It can become bumpy and red, sporting dilated small blood vessels.

Left unattended (and untreated), the advanced stages of rosacea can develop into rhinophyma. It is a disfiguring nose condition characterized by a bulbous nose enlarged by the disease.

Bumps

There might be some bumps on the lower half of the nose and the nearby cheek areas. Severe rhinophyma occurs only on men. However, it can now be surgically corrected and repaired.

Some people falsely attribute the prominent red nose to heavy drinking. This stigma can cause embarrassment to people with the disease. The dilemma is hard to solve. You are not a hard drinker but your rosacea symptoms are putting you on the spot.

Lifestyle changes

You can help minimize your chances of contracting rosacea by some personal lifestyle changes. These include diet and exercise where you can identify your rosacea trigger foods (caffeine, spices, sugar and other sweeteners, etc.)

Try to minimize the use of your skin and makeup products. Some chemicals might just be the silent triggers to the disease. This includes perfumes and other related products.

Even at this stage, rosacea has yet to find a cure, including your ocular rosacea. In the meantime, your doctor knows best how to treat the many symptoms of your rosacea. Life goes on.

Non Hypoglycemia- Understand the Cause

Non hypoglycemia, also known as non diabetic hypoglycemia, is a condition where the level of glucose in your blood stream falls below a certain number and you experience symptoms. Anyone in the world can experience a hypoglycemic episode but usually hypoglycemia is caused by a medical condition or hormonal imbalance.

There are two types of non hypoglycemia, or non diabetic hypoglycemia. The first one we will discuss is Fasting Hypoglycemia. One obvious cause of fasting hypoglycemia is not eating. When you don't eat and/or skip meals your body can't get the fuel it needs so your blood sugar drops to dangerously low levels.

Fasting Hypoglycemia can also be brought on by excessive strenuous exercise. If you do not replenish your body's reserves during exercise then you will experience an episode of hypoglycemia. Fasting hypoglycemia is the type that can also be caused by a medical condition or hormonal imbalance.

A medical condition known as hyperinsulinism, or too much insulin released by your pancreas, is caused by a tumor in the pancreas. Other conditions, like Addison's disease, that affect the secretion of hormones by the pituitary gland or the adrenal glands also can cause the pancreas to secrete more insulin than is necessary to maintain healthy blood glucose levels.

Excessive alcohol consumption can cause the drinker to experience a hypoglycemic episode. Alcohol
converts directly to sugar in your system and therefore stimulates the pancreas to secrete the insulin. If you do not eat the way you are supposed to when you are drinking, then you can and probably will feel the symptoms of hypoglycemia.

Reactive Hypoglycemia is a condition that may result due to a deficiency in the liver when it is required to secrete glucagon. Sugar is stored in the liver as glucagon and when the body needs a boost the liver normally secretes some into the blood stream. Liver diseases like hepatitis, cancer, or cirrhosis can inhibit the storage of glucagon.

If you have never had an episode of hypoglycemia before then you probably don't know what symptoms to look for. Hypoglycemia symptoms include feeling shaky, hungry, being unable to think clearly, pallor, sweating, anxiousness, dizziness or lightheadedness, and blurred vision. Any or all of these symptoms should say only one thing to you, EAT NOW. If you do not get something to eat when you feel these symptoms other symptoms will soon follow and they include falling into unconsciousness, convulsions and even death. Do not play around with hypoglycemia, you could get yourself into all kinds of trouble in very short order.

So, if you feel these symptoms coming on stop what you are doing and eat something to raise your blood sugar quickly. If this happens often you probably keep some hard candy or chocolate at the ready. When your blood sugar is back to within normal limits then you need to eat something a little more substantial to keep it up.

Non hypoglycemia, or non diabetic hypoglycemia, is a dangerous condition that can turn even more dangerous very quickly so learn to control it early.

Natural Ways To Relieve A Headache

If your life is plagued with frequent headaches, you might be getting tired of having to pop pills to try to take away the pain. You might be wishing for some natural ways to relieve a headache. Do such things exist? Can you get rid of your headache naturally? People all over the world for many years have been doing it and you can as well.

Hot/Cold Therapy
It works differently for different people. For many, finding a nice hot pack and putting it on the area of the head or neck that is feeling the most pain. If you haven't found that to work, you may want to try cold. Something that you may also want to try is immersing your hands and wrists in either hot or cold water. This has been described by some people to almost draw the pain away from the head. Don't try to go from hot to cold very quickly, though, as this could end up making your headache worse. For this headache try hot. If it doesn't work, then try cold the next time.

Acupressure
Find pressure points on the inside of the eyebrows above the nose and press hard. Find pressure points on your temples and gently massage. There are several points throughout your body that massaging or applying pressure to can bring about relief of a headache. There are some on your hands, feet, arm right around the elbow, and at the base of the skull as well as others that can help. Many of these places can be accessed by yourself. Try to find these points and get some relief.

Aromatherapy
This is something that you have to be careful of. Some headaches can be made worse by being exposed to certain scents. If you are going to try to use essential oils, try to get the purer and higher quality ones as these will help the most. Peppermint and eucalyptus oils work very well alone or in conjunction with each other. Some find sandalwood or lavender to help. You probably don't want to put these on your skin unless they are specifically designed to be put there, but you can find relief by putting it on a hot or cold wet rag and placing it near the pain.

Exercise
Not only can frequent exercise cut down on the frequency of headaches, but doing a little light exercise while having a headache can help reduce some of the tension and release endorphins which are painkillers made by your body.

Eating Right
While you should find a diet that will help you be healthier, making the right food choices can sometimes help you avoid a headache or shorten one. There are some foods that have been known to trigger headaches. Some headache triggers are alcohol, cheese, processed foods and certain preservatives. There are also those foods that can help alleviate the pain, such as spinach, cayenne pepper, ginger, and peppermint.

Don't feel that you have to resort to taking headache medicine every time that you have a headache. Constantly putting in those chemicals can do serious damage to your body over time and can in some cases decrease your body's own ability to fight pain. Give your body a break and try to find natural ways to relieve a headache.

More Stretchmarks

If you had a baby and also got some stretch marks along the way and now you are pregnant again you may be wondering how to prevent more stretchmarks from happening. Simple. Prevention is key.

Preventing more stretchmarks is as easy as just keeping yourself well hydrated, eating a well-balanced diet during your pregnancy and using products that contain cocoa butter to rub into your skin to help it stretch with your growing belly. See, even though you may already have some stretch marks, if you do this, you can minimize the development of additional stretch marks from forming.

Oh sure, now you wish you had done some research or had someone tell you these things before your last pregnancy. If someone had, you probably would not have the number of them that you do now. But listen, if you do these things this time around you will prevent them and may even help the ones you already have in the process.

The trick is to deep moisturize at least twice a day and keep the collagen and elastin fibers in your skin supple and resistant to breaking. That is how stretch marks happen in the first place. These little fibers can be coaxed to grow with you and not break if the very best skin care is taken during your pregnancy.

It doesn't take much either, using a deep moisturizer, like cocoa butter, or lanolin, or vitamin E oil will keep your skin healthy and those little fibers will stretch as far as you need them to. It doesn't even have to be these specific things I have just mentioned either. You can learn to make your own magic lotion potion. Just so some research to find things you like and put them together. Who knows, maybe you could even find something so good you could sell it and make your fortune that way, too.

But I digress, you are not looking to make money, you are looking for information on how to prevent stretch marks. In my research I have found something rather interesting that you may want to try. It is called emu oil and comes from the fat of the Australian bird called the emu. I have never used it and even laughed when I found it. But after reading some of what was written about it, I stopped laughing and if I were pregnant I would try it.

Used by the aborigines of Australia for centuries to help heal skin conditions like dry skin, sunburn, acne blemishes, and even cuts and scrapes. Emu oil has antibacterial properties that help skin heal and stay free of infection. Rubbed on arthritic joints, emu oil will reduce swelling and relive pain, too.

So if you want to prevent more stretchmarks from developing on your belly all you have to do is pick one of these remedies and use it diligently at least twice daily throughout your pregnancy. The best time to use them would be right after getting out of the bath or shower when your skin is it's most absorbent state.

Massage Schools-All States Require Credentials

Most of the states now have requirements in place for massage therapy students. The requirements vary for each state but if you want to attend one of the massage schools you need to have the credentials to back you up. The education credentials can come in the form of a certificate, an associate's degree or a bachelor's degree. It all depends on the what the state you live in requires.

With more than 1,500 massage schools in the entire country you can practically take your pick as to where you want to get your education. Classes are held at any number of locations such as, massage therapy schools, medical training facilities, community and junior colleges, or four-year colleges and universities.

You must be at least 18 years old with your high school diploma or GED. Some schools do background checks to check your criminal history, if there is one, and check your grade point average from your previous school before accepting your enrollment application.

If you are just going for a certificate, then you probably will not need more than 330 hours of instruction, minimum. Usually training lasts about nine months but if your state requires you to have a degree then you will either need to go for two years or four years of instruction. Training for a degree program can last for 1,000 hours.

You will need to have a good working knowledge of anatomy and physiology, and body mechanics. If you are going to open your own business you will want to take some business courses as well as an ethics class. Not everyone is born knowing how to run a successful business. Training includes classroom studies and hands-on learning, too.

Make sure you attend a school that is accredited and will make arrangement for you to take your state licensure exam when your coursework is completed. When you pass the state exam then you will receive your license in the mail. Then you will be required to maintain your education level by taking continuing education classes each year.

The state you live in will dictate how many continuing education credits you need each year. There may even be home-study courses you can send for to do at your own pace. You just send the test in to be graded when you are done. If you pass they will send you a certificate of completion and you will be awarded the continuing education hours. Keep this certificate of completion some where safe in case anyone ever asks you to prove that you have the hours you need. Do not lose your license over something stupid.

Continuing education courses are provided through the school you attended or by other professional associations affiliated with massage therapy. Check with your local community college to see if they offer massage therapy classes and then speak with a financial advisor to proceed with financial aid, if needed. There are loans available to students who need them, talk things over with the financial advisor and map out the best educational plan that fits you.

Low Blood Sugar Cause-Effect

Skipping meals is just one low blood sugar cause you need to avoid. When you skip meals your body is starved for nutrients and doesn't really know what to do with itself. When your body does not know what to do with itself it will eventually tell you it needs food by sending signals that it needs to eat.

Some symptoms that your body sends out are blurred vision, dizziness, mental confusion, sweating, weakness, and abnormal behavior. When you experience these symptoms the only thing that should enter your mind is to get something to eat to raise your blood sugar as fast as you can.

Hard candy, a glass of milk, or a peanut butter and honey sandwich are all good choices to raise your blood sugar quickly. Peanut butter and honey is my favorite because the honey will bring your blood sugar up quickly and the peanut butter will hold it there. You can also try orange juice with some sugar dissolved into it too. If you do the juice thing you need to make sure you eat something more substantial afterward to keep your blood sugar within normal limits.

Normal levels of blood sugar are supposed to be between 70 and 110 mg/dl. When you consistently fall below the level of 70mg/dl then you are considered hypoglycemic and must get treatment started right away. Hypoglycemia is considered a forerunner of diabetes. Your doctor will no doubt have yoiu start checking your blood sugar and keeping a log every day. After a month or so of keeping this log then he or she will want to see it to see where your blood sugars tend to be at certain times during the day. This will help your doctor personalize a treatment for you.

If you are diabetic, low blood sugar cause may be attributed to your medication. If you have been on the same dose of insulin for some time you need to discuss with your doctor a medication adjustment if you have been having episodes of hypoglycemia especially during the night or first thing in the morning. There are a number of different types of insulin that you can use to control your diabetes.

Other causes that contribute to hypoglycemia are eating too many carbohydrates. Carbohydrates are converted into sugar very quickly after ingesting them and this causes a spike in your blood sugar. With your blood sugar spiking, your pancreas responds by flooding your bloodstream with insulin to take care of the increased sugar level.

The only problem is that the sugar spike caused by carbohydrates is short lived and the amount of insulin pumped into your bloodstream ends up to be too much and when the sugar is metabolized then you are left with a sharply dropping blood sugar and you find you have to eat again very shortly to bring your blood sugar back up.

Eating several small meals throughout your day is the best way to combat and control your low blood sugar problems. No more missing meals, not eating enough at a meal, drinking in excess, or even strenuous exercise can be low blood sugar cause.

Laser Stretch Mark Removal Before And After

When you are considering laser stretch mark removal before and after pictures will tell you if you have had the results you were looking for. The best way to do this is to take a picture of your stretch marks before the procedure and then after you have healed. There should be a marked difference in their appearance.

Laser removal of stretch marks was deemed safe by the FDA back in 2002. As with any surgery there are risks adn side effects involved and you should always get your procedure done by a qualified professional. Make sure the surgeon you choose is board certified and is willing to show you laser stretch mark removal before and after pictures of clients they have had in the past. If they are reluctant to show these pictures then move on to someone who will.

Stretch marks occur on the skin as a result of the skin being over-stretched for some length of time. Small tears in the collagen and elastin fibers of the skin is the cause. These collagen and elastin fibers just can't keep up with the stretching of the skin and once torn have a difficult time repairing themselves. In fact, they usually do not and you are left with stretch marks.

In the beginning, they can be red or purple in color and eventually do fade to white just like any other scar on your body. They may even have a silvery sheen to them. Once you have them they can be difficult to get rid of and may not completely go away, so prevention is best but if that does not do the trick you may consider having some laser surgery to reduce their appearance.

How it works is, the laser is passed over the area and pulsed several times. As the laser works, it stimulates the collagen and elastin fibers to produce more and they will fill in the areas and help shrink the existing scars, as well.

Some women choose to try creams and lotions called body butter that basically do the same thing. Increased production of collagen and elastin fibers is key. Healthy skin does that on it's own and if you improve the health of your skin with diet, exercise and the use of these creams you may find you do not need the laser treatments.

Sometimes the topical creams are just not enough, though, and there is a need for further exploration to fix them. That is where the surgeon comes in. One of the best ways to find a surgeon is to ask the people you know for referrals. Maybe someone you know has had good results with this same type of procedure. If so, ask them about what they went through then call for your first appointment.

The surgeon will go over all of your options, show you laser stretch mark removal before and after pictures and then you can make your informed decision about what is right for your situation.

Kick Start Your Diet With A Whole Body Cleanse

Almost every aspect of our health is distilled from the substances we put into our bodies. When you treat your body to a whole body cleanse, you're cleansing your system of the harmful toxins that often find their way into our everyday foods. These toxins are the result of preservatives and growth hormones, smoke and alcohol and once these substances build up they can lead to health problems and impair your ability to lose weight.

Cleansing and detoxifying helps you get rid of these toxins and allow your body to respond to your weight loss efforts. There are natural ways of cleansing and detoxifying and under optimal conditions the body does a very good job of eliminating waste and other potentially harmful substances. However considering the increases in pollution, environmental contaminants and the decrease in the convenience of natural whole foods, conditions are anything but optimal.

A whole body cleanse flushes your body of the toxins and waste products not eliminated naturally. Not only will your body begin to respond to your weight loss efforts but will also feel rejuvenated, clean, and full of energy. An ideal state for weight loss.

Who Should Cleanse?

The Whole Body Cleanse will benefit anyone who tries it, but those who are trying to lose weight or are feeling sluggish, bloated or suffering from unexplained malaise will experience the most benefits.

One of the biggest hindrances to weight loss is getting your body accustomed to new and healthier foods choices. When you begin a new weight loss plan and attempt to eat healthier, your body continues to crave the sugar, fat and refined carbohydrates that make up the average American diet. Completing a cleanse allows your body to rid itself of those harmful substances and by detoxifying, you're essentially kick starting your diet with a clean slate. Furthermore, the average 5-10 pounds of waste lost as a result of the cleanse is the perfect motivation to stick to your diet.

Although the whole body cleanse limits solid food, when conducted properly, your body will have all the nutrition it needs. But remember that it should only be used for a short time to clean, detoxify and kick start your diet.

Be sure to adhere to the guidelines and provide your body with plenty of fluids and juices to thoroughly flush out your body and ensure that you're not being, deprived of foods, nutrients, or vitamins.

Jaw Pain In Women-More Prevalent Because Of Hormonal Changes

The jaw is a very highly used joint in the body. Think about it, every time you talk, chew or swallow you are using this joint. Jaw pain in women is particularly rampant and it can cause pain not just in the jaw but in the ears, neck and shoulder as well.

There are a lot of remedies you can use to help get some relief from this intense pain (I'm not a doctor and I can't give out medical advice. These remedies are only a suggestion, always talk to your doctor before you take any type of supplement):

1. Jaw pain in women is more prevalent in part because of all the hormonal changes that a women goes through throughout her life. The tissues can swell around the jaw which can in turn cause a great deal of pain and discomfort. Some women have gotten relief by taking 1,000 mg of Omega 3. Omegas 3 has anti – inflammatory properties which can help lessen the swelling and may be able to provide some relief.

2. Sometimes taking a hot shower can offer some relief. The hot water can increase your blood flow which can help you relax. Clenching your jaw and grinding your teeth at night can cause a lot of pain so anything you can do to relax may be able to offer you some relief.

3. There are also some exercises you can do to strengthen the muscles of the jaw area. Exercising these muscles on a regular basis can help keep them strong and prevent cramping. Ask your dentist for some exercises that you can do. More often than not, they will tell you to do the exercises twice daily once in the morning and once before bed.

4. It might be hard, trust me I know, but stay away from all the goodies that are chewy. That will just force you to use your jaw even more. That is the last thing you want to do if you are suffering from jaw pain. Eating soft, non chewy foods will be much less painful for you in the long run (even if it isn't as much fun!).

5. Another thing you can do to help keep you from doing more damage overnight, is to get a bite plate for your mouth. Your dentist can fashion a custom made one for you that will fit your mouth exactly. He will actually make it after taking a mold of your teeth. This can keep you from grinding or clenching your teeth overnight. Not only can this help protect your teeth, it can also keep the impact on your jaw to a minimum.

It's no fun but Jaw pain in women is all too common of a problem. There are some simple, and not so simple, things you can do to help keep it from flaring up or to help alleviate the pain when it does flare up. Ultimately, your doctor or dentist can help you find the best solution for your pain.
