Contact Lenses Without A Prescription

Even though you can get non prescription contacts, they aren't meant to correct your vision. Known as plano, the most common type of non prescription contact lenses are the opaque color contact lenses. Even though they don't require a prescription, those who want them need to consult with an optometrist first to ensure they get the right fit.

Locally or on the Internet, you can find many different varieties of non prescription contact lenses available. You can find lenses that enhance the natural color of your eyes, lenses that enhance your look, and many others. There are also Halloween contact lenses as well, which are great for Halloween or other times when you want to look different.

With non prescription contact lenses, you'll have the choice of daily wear and disposable lenses. If you are looking to change colors on a frequent basis, disposable lenses may be your best choice. The best thing about disposable lenses is the fact that you don't need to clean them at all, simply wear them during the day then take them out and discard them at night.

If you are going to use the same color or the same pair of contacts for a while, you may want to go with daily wear lenses. Daily wear contact lenses will last you a lot longer than the disposable lenses, although they will need to be disinfected and cleaned on a regular basis. As long as you clean and disinfect them on a regular basis, they will last you for quite a while.

Without the supervision of a doctor, may doctors don't advise the use of non prescription contact lenses. Doctors will tell you that when they don't monitor the fitting, usage of the contacts, and the overall effects, they may cause you serious problems and possibly even blindness. While a lot of people use non prescription contacts, few of them experience serious problems.

When an individual buys non prescription contacts without going to see an optician, they tend to forget the fact that contacts aren't for everyone. The amount of tears, shape of the eye, and need for correction varies from person to person. To get the right fit, you must consult an optician, as he will need to carefully examine you.

Even though they may work great for some, non prescription lenses aren't for everyone. Anytime you use them, you should be very carefully and take the necessary care for your lenses. If you are a diabetic, you'll need to be very carefully, for the simple fact that eye infections will take a long time to heal. Even though you may not get an infection, there is always a small chance that it could happen. Therefore, you should always be carefully anytime you use these types of contacts.

Breast Enhancement Pill Comparison

While most people think of the desire to have large breasts as a current phenomenon, the truth is that there is evidence of this desire that dates back for many centuries. It may not be a new thing, but it has been taken to a whole new level in recent decades. Many women are searching for an honest breast enhancement pill comparison, but that can be difficult.

Before we look at these pills, let's take a quick look at why so many women want bigger breasts. To put it simply, it's the media. Large breasted women are portrayed as being the ideal, and the symbol of beauty. Television shows, movies and music videos all do this, and magazine editors have been known to alter cover photos to make the models appear more ample. However, this is all an artificial construct which is impossible for most women to live up to, and there is no reason for them to do so in the first place.

Now, while there is no need to enhance your breasts, there may be legitimate reasons for wanting them to be a bit larger. A breast enhancement pill comparison is better than considering expensive, side-effect prone plastic surgery.

The question is not really which one is best, but whether or not breast pills work in the first place. To say there is a bit of controversy on this would be an understatement. There is simply no medical science to support the popping of a pill to increase the size of one's bust. Ask a doctor and she will tell you that it just isn't going to happen. However, there are also the claims of advertisers which sound convincing to those who want to be convinced.

You would think most people wouldn't believe an advertiser who is selling a form of snake oil, but that's not the case. Advertisers are very good at using pseudoscience or using real science in questionable ways. Anecdotal stories and customer testimonials make it even easier to believe that there just may be a pill that can give a gal larger breasts.

If, after all of this, someone still wants to try some pills, then it's important to make as much of a well-informed comparison as possible. The real key is to compare advertising claims, as well as the ingredients that go into the breast enhancing supplements.

When looking at advertising claims, you want to make sure you are aware of any hype or outright falsehoods. The more hype or lying that is used, the more you should question the potential effectiveness of the product being sold. Doing this one thing alone will help you weed out the worst of the pills. However, a lack of hype and apparent honesty are not the only criteria you should use.

You also need to take a careful look at the ingredients when doing your breast enhancement pill comparison; this is especially important if you have any allergies or a taking any medication that may interact with various ingredients. Generally speaking, you should look for ingredients that you are familiar with, and avoid ingredients that are meant to sound scientific.

Common Causes of Acne

What causes acne?

Worldwide there are about 60 million people who are suffering from acne. Most people develop acne during adolescence. It is most prevalent in those aged 16 to 18 years. The exact cause of acne is unknown, but doctors believe it results from several related factors.

One important factor is an increase in hormones called androgens (male sex hormones). These increase in both boys and girls during puberty and cause the sebaceous glands to enlarge and make more sebum. Hormonal changes related to pregnancy or starting or stopping birth control pills can also cause acne.

The most common reasons for acne are:

* There are higher levels of sex hormones at puberty than in younger children.

* These hormones are converted in the skin to dihydrotestosterone (DHT) which stimulates oil glands to enlarge.

* The oil glands, called sebaceous glands, produce sebum. The more sebum, the more likely it is that acne will be troublesome.

* If sebum and keratin (dead skin cells) block the skin pores, comedones can develop.

* The wall of the follicles may rupture.

* Bacteria and comedonal debris cause acne pimples or pustules (inflammatory lesions).

Aggravating factors

Some people have particularly severe acne.

This may be because of:

* Genetic factors (family members have bad acne). Researchers believe that the tendency to develop acne can be inherited from parents. For example, studies have shown that many school-age boys with acne have a family history of the disorder.
* Hormonal factors (higher levels of androgenic hormones) due to:
* Polycystic ovaries (common)

* Enzyme deficiency eg sterol hydroxylase deficiency (very rare)

* Excessive corticosteroids (eg Cushing's disease) (rare)
* Psychological stress and depression

* Environmental factors such as:

* High humidity causing swelling of the skin
* Cosmetics especially certain moisturisers, foundation and pomades (watch out for lanolin, petrolatum, vegetable oils, butyl stearate, lauryl alcohol and oleic acid)

* Petroleum oils.

* Pressure from headbands & chin straps (eg: "fiddler's neck").

* Pressure from sports helmets or equipment, backpacks, tight collars, or tight sports uniforms

* Stress can also cause the production of hormones, such as cortisol, which can aggravate acne. Stress brings upon different hormone levels. With hormone changes the body prompts the skins oil glands to enlarge, secreting more oil. Which causes white heads, black heads and pimples.

* Certain medications. Vitamins are good for your body, But an excess of vitamins B1, B6 and B12 can cause acne flare-ups. These vitamins are good for the skin, but avoid overuse.

* Picking and squeezing can actually send the infection deeper into the skin and can cause scarring.

Crowns And Bridging

A root canal is a dental procedure that all of us are familiar with. Root canals are something we all dread, although when someone else is getting the procedure most of us find it to be somewhat amusing. When someone asks for a root canal on the other hand, most of us, including dentists, find it to be very absurd to say the least.

Although many aren't aware of this, root canals have been around for many generations. Many years ago, ancient civilizations used this method to save teeth that would have been lost otherwise. These civilizations offered root canals to those such as queens, kings, pharaohs, and the rich. The teeth from peasants were normally extracted then sold to aristocrats.

Many years ago, doctors believed that worms were the reason for tooth decay. They also believed that there were many ways to kill the worms, including rinsing the mouth in one's own urine both day and night. Although this is sick to say the least, this remedy was discarded in 1728, proven to be non effective and replaced by other more suitable treatment. As time passed, doctors proved that the best way to stop the pain was to clean and remove the nerve and pulp of the tooth.

Root canals are a very common procedure these days, as they help to save the tooth by removing the dead or dying pulp. The pulp exists inside of the tooth, and can spread to abscess if it isn't taken care of. The tissue in the pulp is kept alive by the blood vessels that come from the tip of the root and travel along the root canal into the tooth.

Decay is the main reason for pulp in the tooth dying. Once the decay has reached the pulp, it will keep eating away until the pulp has died. Once it dies, the toxins from the decay will be released into the root tip and make it's way into the jawbone. If not taken care of properly, the jawbone can become infected, which can lead to death in rare cases.

To fix this problem, the dentist will need to perform a root canal. During the procedure, he will numb the area then drill a hole into the tooth. Using various tools and equipment, he will go down inside of the tooth and scrape away the nerves and dead pulp. This is a very effective procedure, although very time consuming as well. In most cases, a root canal can take several hours, although it is the only way to stop the dying pulp and save the tooth. Even though it may take a long time – it is more than worth it when it saves your tooth from being extracted.

Home Remedies For TMJ

TMJ (short for Temporomandibular Joint Disorder) is an ailment that makes the joints in the jaw seize up, making simple things like speaking and eating difficult and painful. Typical symptoms include swelling on the sides of the face, pain when chewing, a hard time moving the jaw, headaches and a jaw that feels stiff. If you have one or more of these symptoms then you should visit your doctor as soon as possible. There are also home remedies for TMJ that some people use to find relief.

Before you try any remedy, it's essential that you discuss it with your doctor first. She will know your medical history, and be aware of any potential problems that you should watch out for. The information presented here is not meant to ever replace or take the place of advice from a doctor.

The first step to using these home remedies for TMJ is to be aware of some of its causes. Some of the main causes include underlying problems with the bones in your face, bruxism (tooth grinding), improper dental work and genetics. Obviously some of these things are not within your control, but some of them are, and those make a good starting point for treating TMJ at home.

If you have a problem with any dental work, then you need to make a visit to your dentist. If you think your current dentist is the cause of the problem, then seek a second opinion from an independent dentist. However, you need to be careful as a few dentists will see dollar signs if you mention TMJ. The vast majority of dentists are ethical and honest, but it's still a good idea to only explain your symptoms and then let them make their professional diagnosis.

Stress appears to be one of the leading causes of TMJ, so some of the most effective home remedies for TMJ are those that relieve stress. There are several ways that you can do this, and doing so will also help your overall health, and help you to enjoy life more. Meditation and yoga are wonderful ways to shed the stress of the day, and they are easy enough for anybody to do. Breathing exercises are also an easy to relieve stress when faced with a stress-inducing situation. Another way to keep your stress level low is to have a more positive attitude about things. All of these techniques take a little practice, but are worth it once you realize how much better you are feeling.

Some people also find relief by sleeping on their backs. If you sleep on your side, then your jaw hangs slightly out of alignment and that can cause discomfort during the day. Another sleeping issue that can make TMJ a problem is grinding your teeth at night. Try eating an apple shortly before bedtime, as that will tire out your jaw and decrease the odds of grinding your teeth.

Try as many of these home remedies for TMJ as you like, but remember to always talk to your doctor about any health issues you have.

Contact Lenses Versus Glasses

As you probably already know, there are quite a few differences between contact lenses and eye glasses. Glasses have been around a lot longer than contacts, although most people prefer to wear contacts instead of glasses. Contacts have become popular over the years, proving to be the best alternative to wearing bulky glasses.

When you compare contacts against glasses, there are several things that stick out like a sore thumb. The first difference in the two is the field of vision. Glasses offer good front vision, although their peripheral vision is quite poor. Contact lenses on the other hand offer you a great field of vision, including peripheral. You won't be hindered to just looking straight ahead, as contact lenses allow you to look anywhere you want without any problems.

Another major difference is the weight. Glasses are uncomfortable weight on both your ears and your face. They also need to be tightened on a frequent basis, along with adjusting. Contacts on the other hand don't weigh anything at all. When you wear contacts you don't need to worry about tightening them or worry about them constantly sliding your face – which can be very annoying.

Glasses are also known to fog up frequently, and they are very distracting during any kind of sports you play. Contacts however, don't fog up. You can carry out any activity you choose without having to worry about them all. They won't fall off or slide down your nose when you run, nor will they limit what you can do when you play sports.

Another bad thing about glasses is the fact they need to match what you wear. If you have casual frames, they may not suit your evening attire. The colors may also clash, which is a bad thing for those who crave style. Unlike glasses, contact lenses will compliment everything you wear, for the simple fact that they don't stick out.

Although there are quite a few differences between the two, they do have a few things in common as well. Both glasses and contacts require cleaning and careful handling. You'll need to spray your glasses and wipe them off a few times each day. Contacts need to be cleaned as well, before you put them in and soaked in solution when you aren't using them. You may also need to use eye drops as well throughout the day when wearing contacts, especially if your eyes start to dry out.

Glasses and contact lenses can both correct astigmatism as well. If you have astigmatism, you can wear either glasses or contacts. Astigmatism is an odd cornea shape that impairs vision, common with older people. Although most people think that only glasses will correct this problem, contacts can fix the problem as well.

No matter which one of the two you decide to go with, you are sure to get the vision you need. If you aren't lucky enough to have perfect vision, contact lenses and glasses are the perfect way to correct your vision. If you've been living with not so great vision, contacts and glasses are the ideal way to do the things you love – with perfect vision.

Causes Of Toothaches

When it comes to toothaches, there are many different things that can cause a toothache. A toothache can come at any given time, even though you may not expect it. The pain can be unbearable at times, and you'll do practically anything you can to make the pain stop. When a toothache first comes on, many of us start to wonder what caused it to happen.

Some of the main causes of toothaches include decay, a fracture in the teeth, and cavities. A crack in the tooth is also a cause, although it can be difficult to diagnose, as cracks will normally appear to be invisible to the naked eye and x-rays. Cracks can make your tooth feel as if it is exploding, as they expose the dentin and nerves to the air and anything else you put in your mouth. If you don't get them fixed, they will get worse, possibly leading to your tooth breaking off at the gums.

Pulp irritation is another cause of toothaches, as it occurs after dental treatment. No matter how well your filling or crown was done, the materials that were used to fix the tooth can end up causing pain later on down the road. There really is nothing you can do, as crowns can sometimes come off or the filling can sometimes come out. If this happens, all you can really do is go back to the dentist to get the problem fixed.

If you have an exposed root or nerve, it can also be the cause of your toothache. This normally happens due to rough brushing, receding the gums and exposing the root. If the root is exposed, the air or liquid you drink can trigger a toothache. To prevent this from happening, use care when you brush and never try to tear your gums apart thinking it will get your teeth cleaner.

If you use tobacco products, you'll more than likely get toothaches on a frequent basis. Chewing tobacco is a common contributor to toothaches and tooth pain, as the tobacco will eat away at your teeth until there is nothing left. It doesn't take long for it to happen either, especially if you have been chewing for a long time. Smoking can trigger toothaches as well, as the smoke is bad for your teeth and eats away at them as well.

Even though there are many causes to toothaches, there are things you can do to stop and pain and prevent toothaches. You should always brush your teeth on a daily basis, and go to the dentist for your regular checkups. If you get a toothache you should always go to the dentist and get the tooth fixed. The dentist may be able to catch it early enough to save the tooth – which will prevent you from having to get it pulled and save you a lot of money – and pain in the long run.

Are you in Need of Acne Relief?

Acne is a problem that affects not just teenagers but adults also. If you are in need of relief, there are a multitude of products, remedies, potions, etc. on the market help you.

The first trip should be to your local boxmart (Wal-Mart, Target, etc) or local grocer. Why? Each of these locations typically has a licensed pharmacist on staff.

They usually, key on the word usually, are more than willing to help you identify products that work well vs. those that do not. If the pharmacist at one location is not helpful, try another. You can do this from you own home via the phone. No need to drive all over the place.

Another solution to check out are so called natural remedies. These "natural" remedies are usually natural items such as everyday foods, plants, chemicals, etc. The claim is that certain combinations of these ingredients act in such a way that the effect will reduce acne.

Before you run off and do these items, there are other things you should check into.

Although doctors and scientists cannot say for sure what exactly causes acne, there are several things that are at the top of the list of suspects.

Medications

Many believe that Acne can be a side effect of some drugs, including barbiturates, seizure medication and steroids. Interestingly enough some believe that birth control pills cause acne while others prescribe birth-control as a medication for acne.

Chocolate

Many now believe that chocolate cannot cause acne outbreaks. Still, there are those who are staunch believers that chocolate causes outbreaks. The debate rages on.

Stress

While stress may not be a cause of acne, many people believe that stress can aggravate acne. Exercise is a great way to relieve stress.

Washing your face too often

While acne sufferers should keep their face clean, too much washing or harsh scrubbing will actually aggravate the skin causing acne to occur

Using greasy skin care products and oily cosmetics. Acne occurs when the pores become plugged up. Therefore, one can assume that any product that covers up the face in anyway may block the pores and the natural release of sebum may help cause acne flare-ups.

Environmental Irritants

Think of it, pollution is an unnatural containment. Being in a high pollution area can cause several reactions in the body, including acne. It is also thought that high humidity can cause acne outbreaks. High humidity can cause the skin to swell thereby blocking those pores.

Your Diet

Your diet, (what you eat) can have significant impact on acne outbreaks. Excessive dairy products, fatty foods, etc. are thought to have an impact on acne breakouts as well as a lack of zinc in your diet. Zinc supplements are often prescribed to treat acne.

As always, each person is different. You may have noticed that certain foods seem to have more of an impact on your acne than others. If you are unsure, pay closer attention to your diet and keep track of your acne outbreaks.

Of course, you should always consult with your dermatologist/doctor.

Get Rid Of Your Double Chin

There aren't many things that are as unsightly as a double chin. Nobody ever looks at someone without one and then thinks, "Gee, that person would look so much better if they had more than one chin." If you have a lot of fat there, then it's a safe bet that you would like to get rid of your double chin.

Generally speaking, you can only make your chin fat go away through diet, exercise or plastic surgery. Notice that machines, devices, potions and creams that claim to take care of the problem are not listed here; that's because we only want to focus on things that actually work.

A double chin is really nothing more than fat that has accumulated in that part of your body. Therefore, doing things that would normally help you to lose weight will help to reduce your double chin too.

The first thing you will want to do is look at your eating habits and make positive changes where needed. A lot of people don't like the word 'diet', but this isn't about depriving yourself with some strange eating plan. Instead, it's about making better food choices whenever possible. That means you can still enjoy your favorite foods as long as you make enough better choices the weight will start coming off, and your double chin will start to disappear.

Exercise is important too, but let's be honest, a lot of people don't like that word. No problem. Instead of thinking of it as exercise, think of it as "being active" or "having fun". It doesn't really matter how you go about burning up those extra calories, what matters is that you just do it. If that means going for a walk, riding your bicycle, throwing a Frisbee around or bowling a few frames, then go ahead and do it.

Diet and exercise may not sound all that glamorous, and they aren't quick fixes, but they do work. Still, you may be wondering about surgery as a way to get rid of your double chin. While it works, you need to be aware of a few downsides that are associated with it. Most insurance companies won't cover the procedure so you will have to pay for all of it yourself. It can take weeks before the swelling and bruising go down, so the results are far from immediate.

As with any surgery, there is always the potential for side effects and complications. While it may be a fairly routine surgery, it still comes with some risks. At the very least there will be some scarring, though a good surgeon will make any scars fairly hard to see.

The main thing to remember is that you can get rid of your double chin. Whether you do it through diet and exercise or want to take your chances on plastic surgery, you don't have to live with all of that fat hanging around the bottom of your face.

Teeth Whitening

Teeth whitening has become a very popular practice in so short a time that today, the business is worth more than a billion dollars a year. Because of this, the market is being flooded with different brands every time and because it is one of those procedures that are fast and effective without the pain (mostly), it is so very easy to ride the bandwagon; yet, side effects could happen even adversely if unbeknown to the customer, the products are not used as indicated. To be on the safe side, here are the following routes that a customer normally takes.

Not all teeth whitening products have the same bleaching agent concentration as peroxides that are marketed whether the hydrogen or the carbamide variant ranges from 10% to 20% strength, sometimes beyond that. Shop wisely. The safest route is to choose a small bottle in the mid strength range and test it. From there you can determine the strength of concentration and go higher or lower. Remember that if your gums or your tooth are being irritated or hypersensitive you can choose the lower grades but then the desired results will take longer to manifest. Conversely, higher concentration gives faster results if comfort is not an issue.

Follow instructions and indications. Do not leave teeth whitening products whether gels and rinses, longer in the mouth than prescribed. Extending the time off gels or rinses in the mouth will not improve the affectivity of the products. After each treatment do not drink carbonated beverages for at least two hours to get better results and protect the teeth.

Teeth whitening products are very affordable that customers sometimes overdo the practice that more may be better. It is not. Once the teeth arrive at its most natural white, no amount of teeth whitening will make it any whiter. From thence, a once-a-month touch up is enough for maintenance.

Children up to sixteen years old is not recommended to have teeth whitening, so are pregnant women and lactating mothers. Teeth whitening products normally have counter indications printed at the label. Veneers, crowns and fillings and some repairs to the tooth will not be bleached. It will always retain its color. If these are present in the range that show when a person smiles, chances are whitening the teeth through the do it yourself regimen will result to uneven teeth color. Professional supervision is needed in such cases.

Finally, see your dentist first. This is especially true if you have suffered teeth trauma in the past and have gums that are easily irritated. Even if you do not have these issues, you may still need a mouth exam and an assessment of your gums. Your dentist is also in the best position to seek advice regarding over-the-counter system that could be used. Remember that teeth darken with age and there are 16 teeth shades and the color differs from one person to another. From the dentist, you could also seek a realistic teeth whitening that you could expect.
